This was our third dive with Bermudian wreck historian Russell
Wayman, and visited our
fourth and fifth wreck sites. The boat moored in a sandhole near where the Eagle
wrecked, and we toured the reefs around the wreck site. Although there is very
little left on this site, the reefs are some of the best I have seen to date. A
large swim through near to the site of the Elda (a Newport-Bermuda racing yacht
wrecked in 1956) was one of the highlights (picture 5), as the surge forced us
out of it quite rapidly! All that is left of the Eagle is a few cannons in the sandhole (picture 6).
